2008 USATF Cross Country National Championships:

Jody Hawkins ran away from the field to win the Masters women’s race. She clocked 29:06 over the 8K course, consisting of four grass loops around Mission Bay Park in the shadow of Sea World.

Following Jody came the other scoring members of our W40 team:

Rosalva Bonilla (ninth place/31:43)

Pat Contreras (24th/35:49) running an exceptional race just a month before her 50th birthday

Carrie Sherburne (29th/36:48)

Also grabbing second place was our W50 team, paced by

Debbie Lee (33rd/37:31)

Denise Janneck (41st/39:52)

Jolene Steigerwald (58th/52:47)

Christine Long placed 48th in 45:18.

Our men’s team wound up one short of the required number of scoring runners and so didn’t place in the team competition.

Fred Lindsley (125th/32:47)
